Corning Gorilla Glass 7i Launched for Mid-Range Affordable Smartphones

Corning Incorporated recently launched Gorilla Glass 7i, which is specifically designed for mid-range and affordable smartphones. This new upgrade will provide better protection from drops and scratches than the older Gorilla Glass variants used in many mid-category devices currently in the market.

Corning Gorilla Glass 7i will replace older Gorilla Glass versions such as Gorilla Glass 5 found in mid-range phones. Budget phone buyers will get a more advanced solution that will protect their phones while also fitting high-quality displays into mid-range devices.

Corning Key Press Release According to the company, the new glass comes with significant improvements in durability. Lab tests show that the 7i can survive a drop from up to 1 meter onto a rough surface such as asphalt, while aluminosilicate glasses typically break even at much lower heights of about 0.5 meters or less.

Apart from drop protection, Gorilla Glass 7i also offers double the scratch protection compared to some other lithium aluminosilicate cover glasses available in the market. This looks like a new solution for mid-range smartphone brands that offers better protection without spending a lot.
