It is alleged that to increase the number of live-stream viewers, Wang operated 4,600 phones himself and earned more than 4 lakh dollars in less than 4 months.
According to the report, Wang started his business in late 2022. Wang was told by one of his friends about a practice called ‘brushing’. This term is used for fake real-time activities, under which people are misled through viewer count, likes, comments, etc.
To carry out the scam, Wang purchased 4,600 mobile phones controlled by cloud software. Wang also purchased VPN services and network equipment such as routers and switches from a tech company. Through this, he was able to access all 4600 mobile phones with just a few clicks and generally used mobile phones to increase viewer count and interaction during live-streaming.
It is not yet known from where Wang bought those phones. However, people associated with the case say that these purchases may have been made from the mobile phone recycling market. Apart from Wang, 17 other people are also being investigated. All of them are accused of breaking the rules and using unfair means to gain profit.
