According to a report by NDTV, the police said that 23-year-old Vikas Gowda, a resident of Yelahanka in Bengaluru, entered the airport with a ticket for an Air India flight to Chennai at around 12 noon on April 7. According to the police, he deliberately did not board the flight and kept roaming around the airport recording videos on his mobile phone.
The YouTuber had uploaded the alleged video on his YouTube channel on April 12, falsely claiming that he had spent the entire day at the airport and entered several areas of the airport premises bypassing security. YouTube But he has around 1.13 lakh subscribers. However, he later deleted the alleged video.
“He entered the airport and after clearing the security check at Terminal 2 of the Kempegowda International Airport, headed towards the boarding lounge. But instead of boarding the flight, he roamed around the airport premises and spent nearly six hours at the airport,” a senior police official said.
After recording the video, he walked out of the airport telling the security that he missed his flight. He said that he had a valid ticket and boarding pass, so the security did not suspect him. He said that the initial investigation suggests that he did it for publicity and made exaggerated claims in the alleged video.
The official said the matter came to the notice of the airport security on April 15 and based on a complaint by a CISF officer, Gowda was booked under sections 505 (statements inciting public mischief) and 448 (house trespass) of the Indian Penal Code and arrested. However, police said Gowda was later released on bail.
