Apple Awas Yojana: The world’s biggest tech giant Apple has planned to implement an industrial housing model like China and Vietnam in India. Under this, companies and suppliers manufacturing Apple devices will provide housing facilities to their employees. All this will be done through the PPP i.e. Public-Private Partnership model. Currently, there are plans to build more than 78 thousand units. Out of these, 58 thousand units alone will be prepared in Tamil Nadu. According to the report, the central government will also help in the Apple housing scheme. It will give 10-15 percent of the money. The remaining amount is to be taken from the state governments and businessmen. This project is expected to be completed by March next year. The responsibility of the houses being built is in the hands of Tamil Nadu’s State Industries Promotion Corporation. Tata Group and SPR India are also preparing the houses.

The report says that getting a house near the workplace will increase the efficiency of the employees. Quoting people aware of the matter, the report says that such a big housing project is the first time for women employees. It is worth noting that a large number of women work in Apple’s manufacturing facilities. Most of them live on rent and have to travel a long distance to reach the factory.

According to the report, women employees also face safety issues while travelling for several hours in buses. It has been told that under this project, Foxconn employees will get the facility of 35 thousand houses. Currently Foxconn has 41 thousand workers. 75 percent of them are women. Apart from this, Tata is preparing 11 and a half thousand units for its factory employees, where they will be given accommodation.
