According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, more than 20 workers have filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). This US law enforcement agency declares discrimination in the workplace illegal. The report states that American workers claim that Tax Consultant has violated the laws by targeting them on the basis of characteristics like age and caste. They say that the action taken by the company gave priority to Indian workers who came to America on H-1B visa.
Regarding this, the company spokesperson said, “The allegations of illegal discrimination by TCS are false and misleading. The company has a strong track record as an equal opportunity employer in the US.” Last year also, a scam of taking bribe in exchange for jobs was exposed in TCS. Complaints were received from two whistleblowers in this case. The company sacked six workers and blacklisted six staffing firms in this regard. A whistleblower had complained about this. Company TCS had written a letter to the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of TCS alleging that the head of TCS’ Resource Management Group (RMG), ES Chakravarthy, has been taking commission from staffing firms for some years. Following this complaint, the company had formed a team of three senior executives including TCS’s Chief Information Security Officer, Ajit Menon, to investigate the allegations.
Last month, TCS had said that it does not plan to reduce hiring. However, the company had said that it will hire as per the demand. TCS Chief Executive, K Krithivasan said, “The economy is improving and we will need more people for more work. We do not plan to reduce our hiring plan. We may have to change the pace of hiring.” The company is facing difficulties in its largest market.
