Google launches Gemma open AI model for AI research and developers

Google has launched another AI model Gemma. It is specially designed for AI developers and researchers. It is an open source model which is available to everyone. Gemma has been developed in collaboration with many other teams including Google’s team Google DeepMind. The company says that it has been launched as a contribution from its side in the emerging AI sector.

Gemma’s name is derived from the Latin language in which gemma means precious stone. In terms of contribution to the sector of AI Google has named it Gemma. Both the models have been pre-tuned as per the instructions. They are very lightweight and can run easily on any developer’s laptop or desktop. The company says that both the models are very powerful and also responsive. The company has removed the data from their training set, as well as they have been tested rigorously so that they work safely.

Google has described Gemma as a versatile model. This is because whether the user is working on a laptop, mobile, or other IoT, Gemma integrates easily with them. It is compatible with Vertex AI and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) which makes application deployment even easier. Due to the partnership with Nvidia, it works very well with Google Cloud TPU and Nvidia GPU.

Through the launch of Gemma, the company is emphasizing that AI should be used responsibly. So that it can also be used commercially. Which can include organizations of every size. For this, the company has also launched a Responsible Generative AI Toolkit through which developers will be able to use Gemma very easily and to its full potential.
