According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), 6,88,192 units of vehicles were sold in Maharashtra in the fourth quarter of last year. In Gujarat Vehicles Total sales of 4,21,026 units and Tamil Nadu 4,19,189 units. Maharashtra ranked first in passenger vehicle sales. Maharashtra sold 1,21,030 units. It was followed by Uttar Pradesh (1,01,568 units), Gujarat (85,599 units) and Karnataka (71,549 units).
In the two-wheeler category, Uttar Pradesh stood first with sales of 6,73,962 units. It was followed by Maharashtra (5,15,612 units), Madhya Pradesh (3,35,478 units) and Tamil Nadu (3,24,918 units). Apart from this, in the three-wheeler category too, Uttar Pradesh was at the forefront with sales of 23,859 units. It was followed by Maharashtra (20,495 units), Gujarat (19,743 units) and Bihar (14,955 units). In commercial vehicles, Maharashtra stood first with 31,055 units. It was followed by Uttar Pradesh (23,083 units), Gujarat (20,391 units) and Karnataka (16,966 units).
Automobile companies have had a good start this year. Most of these companies have registered growth in January as compared to the same period last year. Nearly four lakh cars were sold in January. Maruti Suzuki, one of the big car makers, saw sales rise by about 15.5 percent to 1,99,364 units. The company had sold 1,72,535 units in the same period last year. Tata Motors In January, Tata Motors’ sales grew 12 percent year-on-year. The company sold 54,033 units including electric vehicles (EV). Its sales during the same period last year were 48,289 units. Tata Motors’ export of passenger vehicles has also increased. The company exported 400 units in January. This is an increase of around 32 percent compared to the same period last year. In the last few months, Tata Motors launched updated versions of Harrier, Nexon and Safari. This has increased the pace of the company’s sales. The company’s growth in the EV segment has been 69 percent on a year-on-year basis.
