FASTags With Incomplete KYC Will Be Deactivated After January 31 2024 How to Check Status and Complete Verification All Details

[ad_1]

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced that it will deactivate FASTags for which Know Your Customer (KYC) has not been done. The deadline for this has been set as January 31. This is part of the ‘One Vehicle, One FASTag’ initiative, which aims to eliminate the use of a single FASTag for multiple vehicles or linking multiple electronic toll collection tools to a single vehicle. FASTag is a pre-paid tag for vehicles, which eliminates the hassle of crossing the toll by paying cash at the toll plaza. This tag is placed on the windshield of the vehicle, which is detected by the camera system installed at the toll and the toll money is directly deducted from the account linked to the FASTag of that vehicle.

The Highways Authority has announced that FASTags without KYC will be deactivated from January 31. In its statement, the authority said that the deadline for this is January 31 and it is part of the ‘One Vehicle, One FASTag’ initiative. Apart from this, it has also been said that to avoid inconvenience, users have to ensure that the KYC of their latest FASTag is completed.

“The previous tags will be deactivated/blacklisted after January 31, 2024 and only the latest FASTag account will remain active,” the statement said.

The authority also said that it took this initiative after it came to know that more than one FASTag has been issued for a particular vehicle and that FASTags were being issued without KYC in violation of RBI’s order.

NHAI also said that FASTag is sometimes deliberately not affixed on the windscreen of the vehicle, causing unnecessary delays at toll plazas and inconvenience to people using national highways.

As we mentioned, FASTag is a pre-paid tag for vehicles that allows them to cross toll plazas instantly, without waiting at the toll plaza. This tag uses radio-frequency identification or RFID technology and enables automatic deduction of toll fees.
