Both the companies have signed an MoU to start all-electric air taxi service in India. However, regulatory approval is still awaited to start the service. If this approval is received, then Delhiites will get another means of transport. This will reduce congestion on the roads and will also help in combating pollution.
America’s Archer Aviation manufactures electric vertical takeoff and landing (EVTOL) aircraft. These are seen as the mobility of the future. Countries around the world are working on starting air taxi services in their countries. Many countries have even tried out air taxis.
of NDTV Report According to the company, the air taxi will be a kind of ‘midnight’ e-aircraft. It can carry passengers up to 161 km. There is a plan to start this service in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore with 200 aircraft. Giving an example, the companies said that the journey which usually takes 60 to 90 minutes by car in Delhi will take about 7 minutes by air taxi.
However, the information about the fare to be paid for this has not been given yet. It is expected that more information will be revealed after getting regulatory approval.
