A media Report According to Toyota, in September this year, it sold 30 crore cars Manufacturing The company has achieved the figure of Rs 18 crore in these. Out of these, more than 18 crore units have been manufactured by the company in its factories located in Japan and many other countries. Corolla has the highest number of units, more than 53 crore. This sedan was first launched in 1966 and has undergone many changes since then. It is one of the most popular cars worldwide. However, in the last few years, challenges have increased for Toyota, including electric vehicles (EV).
To meet the growing demand in India, Toyota has planned to set up a third plant. The company has two plants in Bidadi in Karnataka and near Bengaluru. Toyota expects sales to grow rapidly in India, the world’s third largest automobile market. It also plans to launch a new SUV in the country. The company’s annual production capacity in the country is around four lakh units. This also includes models sold under the Maruti Suzuki brand. The third plant will allow the company to increase its production capacity by 30 percent.
In terms of production volume, this world’s largest car maker dominates the passenger vehicle segment in the international market but the company’s sales are not high in India. Its models like Fortuner have a major share in their segment but its position is weak in the small car segment. Recently, Toyota had asked the central government to reduce the tax on hybrid cars. The company’s argument is that hybrid cars cause less pollution as compared to petrol driven cars but the policy is not in their favor. 43 percent tax is levied on hybrid cars in the country. In comparison, there is a 48 percent tax on petrol driven cars. Only five percent tax is applicable on EVs.
