Honda Motorcycle & Scooter Registers 60 Percent Increase in Sales

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter (HMSI), one of the largest two-wheeler companies, sold 4,82,597 units in June. This is an increase of about 59 percent on a year-on-year basis. The company’s exports grew by about 70 percent last month. Activa scooters and Shine motorcycles have a major share in its sales.

The company may soon launch a 300 cc motorcycle. In a recent racing event, HMSI showcased a new motorcycle in this category. Earlier this year company had said that it has sold more than three lakh units of Shine 100 motorcycle within a year of its launch. In the last financial year, the company’s sales in the 100-110 cc segment grew rapidly. HMSIS HMSI has started a new engine assembly line in Manesar, Haryana. It can manufacture 600 engines per day in the range of 100 cc to 300 cc. The company’s sales grew by 12 percent in the last financial year. HMSI had a record sale of 48,93,522 units.

Recently, the company has also launched two new products. These include SP160 motorcycle and Dio 125. The price of SP160 is between Rs 1.18 lakh and Rs 1.22 lakh (ex-showroom). Dio 125 is the company’s second 125 cc scooter after Activa. Its price is Rs 83,400 to Rs 92,300. HMSI launched the SP125 Sports Edition motorcycle. Its price is Rs 90,567 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is available at Honda Red Wing dealerships across the country. This motorcycle has a better tank design and new graphics than before. It will be available in Decent Blue Metallic and Heavy Grey Metallic colors. It has a bright LED headlamp, fully digital instrument console. Its instrument console will also provide information related to mileage along with gear position indicator.

International automobile company Honda has planned to invest $3.4 billion in making electric motorcycles and mopeds. Japan’s Honda also plans to launch 30 new electric two-wheelers by the end of this decade. The company had said that it would invest about $700 million by 2025 for the electrification of its motorcycles. After this, about $2.7 billion can be invested by 2030.
