Amazon launch satellite internet service in India Project Kuiper compete with oneweb jio airtel satellite starlink

Amazon is reportedly planning to set up its satellite-based service in India Internet The service is working towards launching ‘Project Kuiper’. To provide satellite broadband service in the country, the company has started the process of applying for licenses in various government departments. The purpose of this service is to provide internet to rural and remote areas. The company is preparing to launch about 3,236 Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites in the coming years. Internet will be provided to every corner of the country through these satellites.

of the Economic Times Report It is reported that Amazon has applied to the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe) to launch satellite internet services in India. If the application is approved, Amazon will get regulatory approval. To launch Project Kuiper in India, Amazon will also need a Global Mobile Personal Communication (GMPCS) license from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).

According to the report, Amazon will reportedly offer internet with speeds of up to 1 Gbps. It is said that its ‘affordable broadband’ will be available across the country. It will also reach areas where there is no internet facility right now.

According to the company’s website, Project Kuiper aims to provide internet through 3,236 LEO satellites. However, these satellites are yet to be launched. Half of these satellites can be launched by the year 2026. Amazon’s e-commerce service and Prime Video service are also expected to get a boost with the launch of broadband internet service.

Amazon is not the first company that wants to start satellite internet service in the country. Elon Musk’s company Starlink is also trying this. It started pre-booking for satellite internet service a few years ago, but later the customers were refunded their money. At the same time, OneWeb and Jio Satellite have received GMPCS license from the government.

The company has not said anything about what will be the cost of Amazon’s satellite internet service, how much money people will have to spend for this facility.
