Amazon claims REKK provides a paid service to customers looking for deals on high-value products such as laptops and game consoles. One of its methods involves manipulating Amazon’s returns and refund process, which allegedly led to millions of dollars in illegal profits for the fraud group.

Bloomberg’s Report According to the lawsuit, REKK employs a variety of tactics, including social engineering, phishing attacks, and bribery. The group is accused of using phishing attacks on Amazon fulfillment employees or bribing them to mark returns as received without actually sending the items back.

The legal action names more than two dozen individuals involved in the alleged fraud that spanned the US, UK, Canada, Greece, Lithuania and the Netherlands. The lawsuit details that REKK advertised its services on a Telegram channel with 30,000 followers, where customers paid a fraction of the item’s original price for the promised discounted deals.

The report states that the lawsuit includes an example of a specific case in which a man named Andrew Ling allegedly ordered five iPads and collaborated with REKK to arrange a refund. The group is said to have launched a phishing attack on an Amazon fulfillment center employee to falsely indicate that the iPad return had been received by Amazon.

In addition, the lawsuit alleges that REKK also engaged in bribery. It claims that some Amazon employees were paid to facilitate fake returns. One employee is accused of approving 76 product returns worth more than $100,000 in exchange for $3,500, while another is claimed to have received $5,000 for approving 56 fake returns worth more than $75,000.
