American devices maker Apple has laid off about 100 workers from its digital services group. This includes some engineering workers as well as the teams of Apple Books app and Apple Bookstore. There have also been layoffs in the team running Apple News.

Bloomberg’s report quoted sources with knowledge of the matter as saying that Company has informed the affected workers working in various teams in Senior Vice President Eddy Cue’s Services Group. Earlier this year, Apple shut down its self-driving car project and laid off hundreds of workers. The priority of Apple Books has decreased for the company. However, some new features can be added to Apple’s Books app. In recent years, services related business has been a major source of growth for Apple. In the last financial year, the share of this business in the company’s total sales was more than 22 percent.

The workers who are being laid off have been told that they will have 60 days to find another job at Apple. In the last few months, many American tech companies have laid off a large number of workers. The main reasons behind this are the increased use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and lack of growth.
