Passengers boarding flights from Terminal 2 of Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport will be able to go through security checks without removing their phones, tablets etc. from their carry-on bags. Money Control has said in a tweet. Report It said that the trial run of CTX (Computer Tomography X-Ray) machines at Terminal 2 (T2) will begin in the next few weeks. Initially, this facility is only for domestic passengers and will be operational in December 2023.
This will be the first airport in India where CTX machines will be tested. CTX machines will be integrated with Automatic Tray Retrieval System (ATRS) and full-body scanners. With its help, passengers will be able to carry their handbags along with mobiles and tablets through security check points.
According to officials of Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), which operates Kempegowda Airport, three full-body scanners have been installed at Terminal 2 to make the security check system more efficient. They say that with the introduction of the new system, the number of trays per person will be reduced.
