Cognizant Asks Employees in India to Work From Office Thrice a Week to Launch Hybrid Work Scheduling App

Global IT services and consulting company Cognizant Technology Solutions is calling its India-based employees back to the office. In a recent email sent by CEO Ravi Kumar S, the company shared a new policy that will require employees to work from the office at least three times a week. The move is similar to other major Indian IT services companies including Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys and Wipro, which have recently ordered employees to work from their offices with staggered schedules.

ET’s Report According to, Cognizant aims to bring users to the office and immerse them in activities that cannot be done from home, such as team building exercises, training sessions or collaborative projects. The company’s decision is linked to the belief that a hybrid work model consisting of a combination of remote and office-based work will shape the future of work.

To facilitate this hybrid vision, Cognizant will introduce a new work scheduling app for its India-based employees. The app is designed to help managers create schedules for their teams and reserve office space for their teammates.

The report further states that Cognizant expressed excitement about bringing employees back to the office. The company said in its statement that “We are excited to see our people in the office and we are committed to expanding in tier-2 cities across India, where many of our associates live. This hybrid work approach will enable our people to build social capital which is fundamental.”

With a total workforce of 347,700, approximately 254,000 of the company’s employees are based in India, making it Cognizant’s largest talent base.
