Delhi High Court Orders Ministry of Communications to remove Scam Sites Impersonating Crypto Firm Mudrex

The cryptocurrency segment has grown rapidly in the last few years. The number of scam cases related to this segment is also increasing. The Delhi High Court has ordered the Ministry of Communications to remove 38 websites that are imitating a crypto firm. Last week, crypto firm Mudrex had filed a petition in the High Court demanding action against fake websites. Mudrex users had reported being scammed through these websites.

In an order published on the Delhi High Court portal on August 23, Justice Mini Pushkarna directed the Ministry of Communications to Websites has been asked to remove them by August 30. Gadgets360 has asked the Ministry of Communications if it has any plans to stop the problem of fake websites on popular internet search engines like Google. An answer is awaited from the ministry in this regard.

Mudrex had provided evidence of fake websites using its name and other symbols to trap users. The petition said that Mudrex had received several complaints from people who had fallen prey to these scams. These websites were also offering employment opportunities. The petition said that many customers had fallen prey to these fake websites and had to suffer huge losses. Important data like Aadhaar cards, PAN cards and bank statements were also collected from these customers. This has also damaged the reputation of Mudrex.

The petition listed 38 fake websites that were using Mudrex’s trademark. After receiving information about such scams, Mudrex issued an advisory through its handles on LinkedIn, Instagram and X. Along with this, the firm sent an email to its users asking them to be cautious about fake websites using its trademark and other marks. Binance, one of the largest crypto exchanges, recently reported that it has managed to prevent losses of about $2.4 billion between January and July this year.
