In a post, Elon Musk wrote, the moon looks amazing. At the same time, Supermoon is called the situation when the orbit of the moon is closest to the Earth. This means that the moon reaches its closest point in the Earth’s orbit, Perigee, and appears larger than the normal full moon.

According to Time and Date, there are two different definitions of a blue moon. The first definition is for a seasonal blue moon. In an astronomical season that has four full moons, the third full moon is called a blue moon. The full moon happening today is a seasonal blue moon. It will be seen for the next time in the year 2026. Apart from this, there is also a monthly blue moon. This happens when there are two full moons in a month, then the second full moon is called a blue moon.

The term ‘Blue Moon’ has been in use since the 1940s. In 1979, astrologer Richard Nolle coined the term ‘Supermoon’. The special thing is that this year four consecutive supermoons will be visible. We are seeing the first of these now. The second supermoon will be visible on September 17. It is known as Harvest Moon. The third supermoon will be visible on October 17 as Hunter Moon and the fourth supermoon will be on the full moon of November 15, known as Beaver Moon.
