Ex Facebook Employee Steal Over 4 Million Dollar From Company To Fund Luxurious Lifestyle

A former Facebook employee defrauded the company of millions of dollars. In fact, a former Facebook employee has been found guilty of stealing $4 million (about Rs 33 crore). The employee spent such a huge amount on his luxuries that he spent it in California and Georgia, as per the report.

America In 2015, a woman named Barbara Farlow Smiles used the social media platform Facebook (Meta) used to work in. According to the US Attorney’s OfficeThe woman was working as a lead strategist in the company. She worked in the company from 2017 to 2021. She adopted a unique way of looting money. In which she stole money through schemes with fraudulent vendors, fake charges and cash kickbacks etc. She made false bills for the company, and looted money for services that the company never received!

The press release states that Barbara used her Facebook expense account to live a luxurious life. She spent this money in California and Georgia. She used company funds for personal expenses including hair styling, baby sitter, and pre-school tuition etc. It is said that Barbara linked the company’s credit cards to digital payment apps like PayPal, Venmo. Then she used them for services that were not applicable to the card.

The woman also made her friends, relatives etc. a part of the scheme. Investigators say that the woman prepared false expense reports. After that the vendors paid her in cash. In total, the woman stole more than 4 million dollars from Facebook. She did all this through suspicious charges, fraudulent bills which were for services that the company never received.
