Rajesh Mishra, a resident of Kanpur, bought a Mahindra Scorpio in December 2020. Then Rs 17.39 lakh was paid for it. The person had gifted the Scorpio car to his son. The car met with an accident on 14 January 2022. While returning from Lucknow to Kanpur, the car hit the divider due to fog and overturned. Rajesh Mishra’s son Apurv lost his life in the accident.
After the incident, on January 29, Rajesh told the dealership about the defects in the car. He also informed that his son had put on the seat belt, but the airbags did not open during the accident. He said that the car was sold to him through fraud. The complainant says that if the car had been sold after proper inspection, then his son would not have died in the accident.
The complainant has also accused That when he complained, the employees of the company argued with him. At the behest of the manager of the company, the complainant’s family was abused. They were threatened with death.
Now, after this case Mahindra & Mahindra has issued an official statement saying that “the matter is more than 18 months old and the reported incident took place in January 2022.” The statement further reads, “We would like to clearly state that the Scorpio S9 variants manufactured in 2020 had airbags, we investigated and no defect was found in the airbags.”
The company further said in its statement, “This was a rollover case in which the front airbag did not deploy.
It is also reported that in October 2022, the company had completed a detailed technical investigation into the matter and the case is now under consideration. The company has also said that it is “committed to cooperating with the authorities for any further investigation.”
