Google Doodle Leap Day Why February 29 come every fourth year

Have you ever wondered why there is an extra day in February every year? Google is celebrating this extra day ‘Leap Day’ today with a special doodle which is quite adorable. This unique day comes only once in every 4 years, for this Google has prepared an animated doodle of a playing frog. The doodle depicts the date of Leap Day between 28 February and 1 March, in which the frog is shown jumping on both these dates. As soon as the frog jumps, the date of 29 February disappears for some time. Let’s know about Leap Day in detail.

This creative work by Google has shown the need for leap days to make our calendar system accurate. It ensures that the time is in sync with how the Earth revolves around the Sun. Leap days came about due to the Julian calendar, which was used in 46 BC. The Julian calendar did not take into account that it takes a little more than 365 days for the Earth to revolve around the Sun. Without leap days, our seasons would slowly start to shift, getting earlier and earlier each year, which could mess things up.
