IIT Delhi Placement 22 percent of students did not find a job in 5 years says report

The reputation of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is not only in India but all over the world. Every year a large number of students graduate from here. The RTI data is raising questions on the placements of IIT Delhi. The Hindu Report According to the data received from IIT Delhi, it has been revealed that between the years 2019 to 2023, about 22 percent of IITians could not get a job from the college.

IIT Delhi refused to give the data for the year 2024 saying that placement is still going on. The report said that Dheeraj Singh, an alumnus of IIT Kanpur and founder of Global IIT Alumni Support Group, had filed an RTI.

In response, he came to know that the average placement package at IIT Delhi has also remained almost stable for the last 4 years. In 2021-2022, the average placement package of IIT Delhi was Rs 23.8 lakh. In 2022-23, it decreased and came down to 21.9 lakh annually.

Data shows that 1105 IIT students were placed in 2021-22. That year 366 students could not get a job. Similarly, in 2022-23, 1513 students registered for placement, out of which 1270 got placed and 243 could not get a job.

The worries do not end here. Media reports have said that along with the decrease in placements, the placement packages have also decreased. Many companies are coming to IIT and offering jobs of Rs 10 to 15 lakh per annum. Navbharat Times Online has written in a report that now IIT graduates are being offered packages of less than Rs 10 lakh.
