But now 38% are facing unemployment. 16,400 students had registered in the old 9 institutes of IIT, out of which 6,050 students i.e. 37% did not get a job.
At the same time, the situation in 14 new institutes of IIT is worse. 5,100 students had registered in these. Out of which 2,040 (40%) could not get placement. IIT Kanpur alumnus and consultant Dheeraj Singh has shared this data on LinkedIn. Dheeraj has written that 33 percent of the students in IIT Kharagpur did not get a job through placement. Students are living in stress, trouble, and despair.

The mental condition of students is deteriorating due to this rush for placements. This year 6 IIT students have committed suicide. This shows how much stress the students are under and how troubled they are living. It has been said that 61 percent of the post graduate students of the institutes are still unemployed.
