IPL Cricket Betting Addiction Man Loses Rs 1 Crore Wife Takes Life All Details

Betting is known to ruin people’s homes and its latest victim is the family of an engineer who lost Rs 1 crore by betting on cricket. The matter did not end here. After losing the money, the engineer’s wife committed suicide after being harassed by creditors. The name of this engineer is being told as Darshan Babu, who is fond of betting on cricket matches and has been betting on Indian Premier League (IPL) matches since 2021.

Reports suggest that creditors started harassing his family after he did not repay the borrowed money on time, which led to his 23-year-old wife Ranjita committing suicide. The incident is said to have taken place on March 18, the day she was found hanging from a fan in their house.

The report further states that Babu worked as an assistant engineer in the minor irrigation department in Hosdurga. His family says that Darshan had incurred a debt of over Rs 1 crore and was caught in the trap of IPL betting from 2021 to 2023.

Not only this, Darshan had allegedly borrowed more than 1.5 crores to bet on matches and lost all the money. To repay this loan, Darshan withdrew all his savings and returned about one crore rupees. However, the police say that Darshan still owes about Rs 84 lakh.

Wife Ranjitha’s father Pitna said that his daughter was extremely upset due to the constant harassment of creditors and that is why she committed suicide. Ranjitha’s father has also given the names of 13 people who had allegedly lent money to Darshan.

According to reports, the police during their investigation found a suicide note in which Ranjita had mentioned in detail about the harassment she had faced.
