Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Kawasaki, which is also known for its powerful Ninja series in India, has launched two of its electric bikes – Ninja e-1 and Ninja Z e-1 in the US. Both electric motorcycles are equipped with powerful specifications and the company claims that they are capable of giving a range of about 70 kilometers on a single charge. Their prices have also been revealed. At present, no information has been given about availability. Let’s know about them in detail.

Talking about the prices, the 2024 Kawasaki Ninja e-1 electric bike is priced (MSRP) at $7,599 (around Rs 6.32 lakh) in the US, while the Z e-1 is priced at Rs 7,299 (around Rs 6 lakh). As we mentioned, the company has not yet shared any information regarding availability, but Kawasaki Motors is talking about taking orders in the US till November 30, 2023.

Both Kawasaki Ninja e-1 and Z e-1 models claim to have power equivalent to that of a 150cc ICE motorcycle and their design also matches that of Ninja 400 and Z400. Both e-bikes are capable of generating a maximum output of 9 kW. They are equipped with an air-cooled, internal permanent magnetic synchronous motor. The motor generates a peak torque of 29Nm. Due to this, the top speed of both Kawasaki Ninja electric bikes is 62 mph (about 100 kmph).

However, after 15 seconds of reaching the top speed of 62 mph, the speed is reduced to 54 mph (around 87 kmph). The extra speed of 54 to 62 kmph is actually achieved due to the e-boost feature. It has two power modes Road and Eco, as well as a walk mode, which is used to move the bike forward or backward while parking. In this mode, the maximum speed for forward and reverse is limited to 3 mph and 2 mph respectively.

At the same time, Ninja e-1 and Z e-1 include two Li-ion battery packs, which claim to give a total range of 44 miles (about 70 kilometers) on a single charge. The battery packs can be replaced, which also gives the option to extend the range. The original battery packs are said to take 3.7 hours to fully charge.

The model features a steel trellis chassis and 41 mm telescopic forks and mono-shock and has 17-inch size wheels. The new Kawasaki e-bike gets a 4.3-inch TFT instrument cluster with different layouts.
