Maruti Suzuki has manufactured over 2.68 crore units at its plants in Haryana and over 32 lakh units in Gujarat. Maruti 800 has played a major role in helping the company reach this milestone. Over 29 lakh units of the vehicle have been sold. Its other successful models include Alto 800, Alto K10, Swift, Wagon R, Dzire, Omni, Baleno, Eeco, Brezza and Ertiga. The company’s Managing Director, Hisashi Takeuchi, said, “We are committed to ‘Make in India’. Our contribution in the total export of vehicles from India is around 40 per cent.” Maruti Suzuki started exports in 1987.
In the last financial year, the company has recorded its highest sales with 17,59,881 units. It plans to increase the manufacturing capacity to 40 lakh units in the coming years. Company is preparing to launch updated versions of Swift and Dzire. The company’s SUV and MPV sales have increased by 57 percent. In this segment, the company sold 58,436 units in March. In the same month last year, the sales were 37,054 units. In the SUV segment, Brezza, Fronx and Grand Vitara were the best selling models. In the MPV segment, there is a strong demand for Ertiga and XL6.
