Maruti Suzuki to send Baleno, Grand Vitara and Brezza for Bharat NCAP Test

[ad_1]

Three cars of Maruti Suzuki, one of the major automobile companies, will be subjected to Bharat NCAP crash test. Bharat NCAP will be an important step to improve road safety in the country. Under this, safety standards have been increased for motor vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes. This will make it easier for car buyers to assess the crash safety of motor vehicles available in the automobile market. Under Bharat NCAP, car makers can voluntarily get their cars tested. Earlier, the testing of cars was done by Global NCAP.

However, Maruti Suzuki has not said when these cars will be tested. Company Maruti’s Baleno and Brezza have been tested by Global NCAP before and the results were mixed. Maruti’s Grand Vitara got a four-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test about six years ago. In this crash test car Star ratings will be given based on the performance of the vehicle. Before buying a car, customers will be able to compare the safety standards of different vehicles by looking at these star ratings. India is the fifth country in the world to have started such a system for car crash tests.

The demand for safer cars is expected to increase after the implementation of the new safety regulations. This will also encourage car makers to send their models to Bharat NCAP for manufacturing safer cars. The Road, Transport and Highways Ministry hopes that with high safety standards, the demand for cars made in the country will increase in the international market.

Hyundai has announced to provide six airbags as standard in all its models in the country. Apart from this, the company will also provide other safety features like three-point seatbelt and seatbelt reminder in all variants. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Hill Start Assist Control (HAC) will be provided as standard in 10 out of 13 Hyundai models across all models and variants. The company has said that Advanced Driver Aids System (ADAS) will also be provided in five of its models. Hyundai’s new Verna has received a five-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test.
