Nokia’s 6G Lab is in step with the Government of India’s ‘Bharat 6G Vision’ introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This vision has been initiated as a global collaboration from India in the standardization and development of 6G technology. Nokia’s Tell The 6G lab will serve as a platform for collaboration for the industry. Industry giants will be provided the facility to test innovative solutions here.
Nokia says the lab includes a setup to research ‘network as a sensor’ technology, which enables networks to sense objects, people and activities without the need for on-board sensors. In the 6G era, ‘network as a sensor’ has been identified as a key enabling technology that supports the vision of bringing the digital and physical worlds together.
Nokia further states that sensing will be fully integrated into the wireless network and operate alongside communication services. This will allow people to look around, gather information about their surroundings, and even communicate with distant objects. The lab will also provide an experimental platform for research on algorithms, privacy, and sustainable system design.
