Tata Motors plans to install around 10,000 charging stations for electric vehicles (EV) in the next two years. The company has tied up with operators like Chargezone, Glida, Statiq and Zeon for this. Chargezone, Glida, Statiq and Zeon have around 2,000 charging stations in various cities of the country. The tie-up with Tata Motors will increase this number to around 12,000. Tata Motors has three electric cars – Nexon EV, Tigor EV and Tiago EV. It plans to launch three more electric vehicles in the next one year. Tata Motors’ commercial vehicle sales in the second quarter grew by six percent to 99,178 units. EV sales have been growing rapidly. The EV market in the country has doubled in the first half of the current year compared to the same period last year. Recently, market research firm Canalys had reported that EV sales in the first half were around 48,000 units. It has increased by about 137 percent on a year-on-year basis.
