Tesla Planning to Sell Optimus Robots Next Year

American electric vehicle (EV) maker Tesla is developing a humanoid robot. The company’s chief executive, Elon Musk, said that its sale could start by next year. Many companies are planning to use humanoid robots to overcome labor shortages and repetitive or dangerous tasks. These include companies related to retail, manufacturing, logistics and warehousing.

Musk told investors in a conference call that he anticipates that Tesla The robot, called Optimus, will be able to work in factories by the end of this year. Japan’s Honda and South Korea’s Hyundai Motor’s Boston Dynamics have been developing humanoid robots for several years. Figure, a startup funded by major software companies Microsoft and Nvidia, has partnered with German luxury car maker BMW to install humanoid robots at BMW’s US factory. Earlier, Musk had said that selling robots could become a major part of Tesla’s business.

Last week, Musk postponed his visit to India. He was also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during this visit. Musk was scheduled to visit on April 21. Billionaire Musk said in a post on social media platform X, “Due to heavy workload at Tesla, the visit to India has to be postponed but I am looking forward to this visit in the current year.” Apart from Tesla, Musk is also seeking permission for his satellite internet service providing company Starlink to start business in the country. Sources aware of this had said that the central government has assured Starlink of getting this permission by the third quarter of this year.
