Toyota Planning for its Third Plant in India, Will Also Launch New SUV

Global automobile company Toyota has planned to set up a third plant to meet the growing demand in India. The company has two plants in Bidadi in Karnataka and near Bengaluru. Toyota expects sales to grow rapidly in India, the world’s third largest automobile market.

A Reuters report states that the company has also prepared to launch a new SUV in the country. The company’s annual production capacity in the country is about four lakh units. This also includes models sold under the Maruti Suzuki brand. The company will be able to increase its production capacity by 30 percent from the third plant. In terms of production volume, this world’s largest car maker dominates the passenger vehicle segment in the international market, but in India the company’s production is slow. Sales Not much. Its models like Fortuner have a big share in their segments but its position in the small car segment is weak.

However, Toyota’s partnership with Suzuki may benefit it in the country. In this, both these Japanese automobile companies share some of their models with each other with some changes. In this episode, Toyota’s Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Glanza have increased sales in the country. These two models have a share of about 40 percent in Toyota’s total sales in the country.

The company’s upcoming SUV can also increase the pace of sales. Recently, Toyota launched the world’s first car that runs completely on Ethanol in India. This car with a flex-fuel engine is based on the company’s popular MPV Innova HyCross. It can also generate electric power on its own, which makes it EV mode. The electrified Innova HyCross flex-fuel is a prototype and complies with the new Bharat Stage 6 emission norms. It has a lithium-ion battery pack. Toyota has also added a cold-start system to it, so that it can start even in a temperature of minus 15 degrees Celsius. The Innova HyCross hybrid MPV can generate 181 bhp of power and has a mileage of 23.24 kmpl.
