Actually the cabinet has approved three semiconductor units in India. After this, IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav met the media, during which he explained the blue print of the entire plan on a whiteboard. During this, he explained in detail about every step of the plan.
This entire process will include four main components which include design, fabrication, assembly-testing-marking-packaging, and electronics manufacturing. He said that first of all a talent pool is being prepared for this, that is, talented people will be added to it. After that the second big thing will be research and development. Explaining further about this, he said that the most difficult and most expensive tool in this process is called Electronic Design Automation which will be supplied by Cadence, Synopsys, and Siemens. These tools are very expensive. The minister said that if you go to buy it, then the license for it is available for Rs 10 to 15 crore. Therefore, companies have been talked to, their EDA tools have been taken and delivered to 104 universities of the country.
The central government yesterday issued a circular for three semiconductor units in India Approved The demand for semiconductors has increased rapidly in the last few years. It is difficult to meet the demand due to the low number of companies manufacturing it. Construction of three semiconductor units will start soon in the country. The first unit will be of Tata Group and Powerchip-Taiwan. It will be set up in Dholera, Gujarat. A total investment of Rs 1.26 lakh crore will be made in all three units.
