36 Percent of IIT Bombay Students Go Without Job Offers Worry Grows Over Unemployment

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), one of the most popular institutes in India, is known for its placements. Last January, 85 students of IITB (IIT Bombay) reportedly received job offers worth Rs 1 crore annually. However, the latest placement report is surprising, as this year 36 percent of the students of Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT Bombay) have not got any job yet. The figure has increased by about four percent compared to last year. Last year, 32.8 percent of IITB students were unable to get a job. Certainly, the new figures raise many questions about unemployment.

Actually, placements are going on these days in IIT Bombay, where well-known companies from India and abroad have participated. Like other IITs, many students of this institute leave the institute with packages worth crores, but it seems that 2024 is going to be worse for the students than last year, because this year so far 36% of the total students registered for placements have not received job offers. According to Hindustan Times Report According to, out of the 2,000 registered students of IIT Bombay, about 712 have not received any placement yet in this session.

Dheeraj Singh of the Global IIT Alumni Support Group has shared this data. The process of placement in IIT Bombay is currently going on which will continue till May 2024. Let us tell you that Computer Science and Engineering branch has the highest placement in IIT Bombay, where 100 percent placement is achieved every year. But this is the first time that the students of this branch have reportedly not got placement.

Reports show that last year 32.8 percent of IIT Bombay students did not get a job in placements. This year the figure has increased by about four percent. It is reported that officials of the placement cell of IIT-Bombay say that due to the global economic slowdown, it has become difficult to call companies for the placement season.
