The factory is spread over approximately 1,100 acres and has a press line, welding shop, paint shop, assembly line and powertrain shop. Last month, Tata Motors reduced the prices of its electric vehicles (EVs) by up to Rs 1.20 lakh. In the total sales of cars in the country, EV has a share of about two percent. Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, had said, “Due to the reduction in the prices of battery cells, we have decided to give its benefit directly to the customers.” The price of the company’s best-selling Nexon EV has come down by about 1.4 percent to around Rs 14.5 lakh. The price of its small car Tiago has come down by Rs 70,000. The price of its base variant will start from Rs 7.99 lakh. The recently launched Punch EV is priced at around Rs 12 lakh. In the last few months, Tata Motors has launched updated versions of Harrier, Nexon and Safari.
Recently, the company launched the electric version of Punch. Tata Motors ranks first in the electric car segment with about 85 percent share. Company had requested the central government not to give tax exemption on hybrid cars. Toyota, a leading company in the hybrid car segment, had demanded a reduction in tax on hybrid vehicles.
