India May Become Giant Power in Semiconductor Industry, Tata Group Planning to Set Up Semiconductor Plant in Assam

Tata Group, which has businesses ranging from automobiles to software, has applied to set up a semiconductor processing plant in Assam. An investment of Rs 40,000 crore will be made in this project. In the last few years, companies in some sectors like automobiles have faced difficulties due to the shortage of semiconductors.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Tata Group has applied to set up a semiconductor processing plant in the state with an investment of Rs 40,000 crore. This will bring a big change. I am grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his constant guidance in improving our state.” He said that Chief Minister Atmanirbhar Assam Abhiyan has been started to increase self-employment opportunities and make the youth self-reliant. Under this, two lakh youth will be empowered to become entrepreneurs. In the country Semiconductors The central government has also announced incentives for the manufacturing of semiconductors. American company Micron Technology also plans to start manufacturing semiconductors in the country.

Micron Technology has prepared to set up an advanced semiconductor assembly plant in Sanand, Gujarat. Tata Projects will construct this plant. This plant will be spread over 93 acres. Recently, Prime Minister Modi had announced 50 percent financial assistance from the central government to those setting up semiconductor manufacturing units in the country. Modi had said that his government has provided many facilities for the semiconductor industry. He said that the semiconductor industry will grow rapidly in the country. An ecosystem is being created for the semiconductor industry. He had said that 300 colleges have been identified to start courses on semiconductor design. Modi said that behind every industrial revolution in the world are the ambitions of the people and he believes that the reason for the fourth industrial revolution will be India’s ambitions.

Reliance Industries has also planned to enter semiconductor manufacturing. For this, Reliance Industries is in talks with foreign chipmakers regarding technology partnership. HoweverCompany Reliance has not decided whether it wants to invest in this sector or not. Reliance may find it easier to grow its telecom and electronic devices business by manufacturing semiconductors.
