“This helps customers plan their travel without worrying about fluctuations in fares and availability of their preferred flight options. This feature is available for flight options booked at least 10 days from the date of booking of the service,” the airline said in an official statement.
Customers who wish to avail this feature will need to select their preferred flight option and select the fare lock option in the booking flow. A non-refundable charge will then need to be paid. Customers can later visit their booking on the website or mobile app to confirm their booking at the pre-selected fare using the ‘Manage Booking’ option.
Fair Lock These charges are available at (including taxes), which vary according to the route and are applicable per passenger per ticket. Domestic Indian flights can be booked for Rs 500. Short haul international flights can be booked for Rs 850 when departing from India and $10 when arriving in India. Apart from this, long haul international flights can be booked for Rs 1500 when departing from India and $18 when arriving in India.

Currently, Air India operates 51 weekly flights to North America, while before privatization this number was 33.
