The last year has been good for the automobile industry and most car manufacturers have performed well. Last year Hyundai launched the updated sedan Verna along with the sub-compact SUV Exter. The updated version of its mid-size SUV Creta will be launched on January 16. Last year Company Exports also increased to around 1.63 lakh units. In December, Hyundai sold 72,750 units in the country and exported around 13,700 units. Tarun Garg, Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai’s unit in the country, said, “The company has grown more than the industry. This is a proof of customers’ liking for the Hyundai brand. Last year, the company’s production capacity was increased to around 50,000 units. This will help in meeting the increasing demand.”
The company’s new SUV Exter has received a strong response. More than one lakh bookings have been made for it. Hyundai Exter competes with Tata Motors’ Punch, Nissan’s Magnite, Renault’s Kiger and Maruti Suzuki’s Fronx. Some features of this micro SUV have been given for the first time in this segment. Recently, Hyundai increased the price of four of the six variants of Exter by up to Rs 16,000. It was launched at a starting price of Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom). Exter has a 1.2 liter petrol engine that generates 83 PS of power and 11.6 Nm of torque. It also has the option of a 1.2 liter bi-fuel petrol and CNG engine, which can generate 69 PS of power and 95.2 Nm of torque. It is available in both manual and automatic variants. Its design is based on Hyundai’s new design system, which has a split headlamp setup with H-shape LED DRL.
