Through UPI you can travel to France, Sri Lanka and Mauritius Along with UPI, payments can also be made in UAE (United Arab Emirates), Singapore, Nepal and Bhutan. This information was also given on the official X handle of the Government of India, where sharing a post last Friday, MyGovIndia said that UPI is now fully operational. It has gone global And apart from India, this benefit can be availed in seven other countries as well.

UPI was launched in 2016 by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and has gained momentum since then. It set a new record in November last year. Data from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) showed that UPI transactions set a new record of Rs 17.4 lakh crore in November 2023. It also crossed the volume figure of 11 billion. Compared to the month of November 2022, UPI transactions grew by 54 per cent, while its value saw an increase of 46%.

In the last few months, the scope of digital rupee has also increased in the country. Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) or e-rupee has been developed as a digital alternative to cash through distributed ledger technology. The trial of e-rupee was started by RBI.
