New Year Eve: People celebrated a lot on 31 December i.e. the last day of 2023. This has been revealed by the orders placed on food-grocery delivery platforms, Zomato and Swiggy. The companies have shared the data and claimed that New Year’s Eve was memorable in many ways. Zomato delivered the highest number of orders in a day on 31 December, in return for which its delivery partners received a tip of Rs 97 lakh.

Zomato says that it delivered as many orders on New Year’s Eve 2023 as it delivered on New Year’s Eve between 2015 and 2020, which is a record. The highest number of orders were placed in Maharashtra. The data shows that 125 items were delivered on a single order in Kolkata.

People ordered 1.47 lakh packets of chips from Zomato and 68,231 bottles of soda. Not only this, 2,412 packets of ice cubes and 356 lighters were also ordered. This means that there must have been a lot of drinks on New Year’s Eve. Swiggy also got a similar response.

People ordered 2 lakh kilos of onions and the same number of potatoes through Swiggy’s platform Instamart. There was also a lot of demand for tonic water and cocktail mixers. Swiggy claims that the numbers were 4 times higher this year. According to a report, there was also a lot of demand for OYO rooms on the occasion of 31 December. Bookings increased by 37 percent to 6.2 lakh. 2.3 lakh bookings were recorded on 30 and 31 December.

8422 orders were placed on Zomato at 8:06 pm, which means 140 orders were placed every second. Biryani was also ordered in large numbers. Bookings for it were done from all over the country, which was the highest at 9 pm. Similar response was seen for other dishes as well.
