Suzuki Motorcycle Registers Best Sales in May, Sold More than 1.11 Lakh Units

Suzuki Motorcycle (SMIPL), one of the largest two-wheeler companies, has recorded sales in May. Last month, the company sold 1,11,512 units. This is a 22 percent increase on a year-on-year basis. The company’s sales in the country have increased by about 37 percent to 92,032 units.

However, the company’s exports have declined. Last month it exported 19,480 units. In the same period last year, the company’s exports were 24,276 units. SMIPL Managing Director, Kenichi Umeda said that record sales of 1,11,512 units in May is a big achievement for the company. He said, “This excellent performance indicates the company’s growing presence in the country’s market. It is also a result of the commitment of our dealer network, business associates and team members. We will provide the best services to all customers.”

In the last financial year, Suzuki Motorcycle’s manufacturing reached 10 lakh units. Along with this, the capacity of the company’s plant is also being fully utilized. The company’s plant was started in 2006. In the last few years, the company’s production has increased. Sale has grown rapidly. Recently SMIPL has launched V-Strom 800 DE Motorcycle It was launched on 25 November 2017. Its price is around Rs 10.30 lakh (ex-showroom).

The V-Strom 800DE has a 776 cc, liquid cooled parallel twin engine. It generates a maximum power of 83 bhp and a peak torque of 78 Nm. Its mileage is claimed to be 22.7 kmpl. The company’s motorcycles include V-Strom SX, Gixxer SF 250, Gixxer 250, Gixxer SF, Gixxer, Katana, Hayabusa and V-Strom 650XT. Apart from this, it sells Avenis, Access 125, Burgman Street and Burgman Street EX scooters. The company’s Access 125 scooter achieved the manufacturing milestone of 50 lakh units last year. It was the first scooter in the 125 cc segment. The company’s Hayabusa is quite popular in the segment of powerful motorcycles. The company launched its third generation GSX1300RR Hayabusa two years ago. It is powered by a 1,340 cc air-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC, in-line engine that can produce a maximum power of 190 PS at 9700 rpm and a peak torque of 150 Nm at 7000 rpm.
